This is the all-new Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupé ! With the most powerful AMG engine money can buy packed under the bonnet, this 4-door coupé has emerged as a direct competitor to the likes of the Porsche Panamera. The question is, with a price tag well exceeding £100,000, does the GT 4-door coupé (or GT 4-türer coupé, if you’re reading this in Germany) really offer enough value to match the engine? So, basically, the only reason to buy this is that they took over 140 horsepower off of the CLS AMG over the last generation to make room for it. And it has a far cheaper interior than either the 2nd or 3rd gen, at a much higher price. At this point the RS7 is a no-brainer. Long-term reliability might be a bit worse with the Audi, but most German luxury car buyers aren't going to care, because they lease either way. I can't believe Mercedes killed the CLS AMG to make room for a model that's worse in every way, far more expensive, has far less traditionally beautiful proportions than the outgoing CLS or the 6-series gran coupe and RS7, and that nobody's going to want unless their only criteria for luxury car buying is a 3-pointed star. Daimler usually rules the luxury game by being 2 steps ahead of everyone else, except for that one incident with the Lexus LS400 in the 90s, which it looked like they'd learned from. This is just sad. They're resting on their laurels again, and they'll get shown up again.
