Leo Wang says:

For people saying drivers will lose their jobs, just take a look at how a train is driven. And how much the drivers get paid.

Leo Wang says:

Can't think of the future where guided vehicles plus this system.

Felix Vatamanu says:

Well, I don't know why but this technology makes more sense to me when applied to trucks than to cars. Maybe I am a bit subjective here because I love driving and I like to drive my car, I like to change gears, feel the vehicle's response to my actions. For these reasons I can't see myself using a system like this on a car that I own.

ozzycarnut says:

very impressive technology, i especially admire the emergency braking at 1:30. to explain why this is a big deal, consider the average size of a fully loaded truck, in the region of 40 tons, or more than double this figure for the 'road trains' that we have in australia. not sure if the emergency braking would work with a road train due to the significant rolling mass and force required to stop it, but should be fine in theory for a regular semi. it would be quite interesting to see the next iteration of this technology, being full autonomy, so a robot loads the truck at a warehouse, then a guy in a control room gives the truck the gps coordinates of where it needs to go, and the truck-bot takes it from there without a human passenger. they already have autonomous dump trucks here in the mines in australia, and autonomous cranes at the ports, so i can see this as a natural evolution of the transport industry.

mikeymarmalade says:

I can see this being used in military convoys but I would have thought drivers are more likely to fall asleep

Henry Yang says:

All vehicles in this video are Mercedes cars?

Masoga Kekana says:

you can tell that they held back on some tech for legislation sake. no lane changing because the system requires driver attention incase of system malfunctions or as explained about lanes and radar performance. if autonomous system does too much then drivers would be too relaxed to respond safely when needed. amazing tech!!

chekkerboyable says:

Nbpoih Fiheqw says:

2:03 "manual lane change required"
not autonomous ? wait
Audi can do that…

Mon Mi says:

So you can get a real safety jerk off while u drive. Amazing.

Sergio says:

Mercedes big profit, drivers low paid. Good deal
